Picking the Right Size Bed
Picking the Right Size Bed
When you buy a mattress online, you need to carefully consider the size of the product you're buying. In the store, you can get a general sense by looking. When you're shopping at any online retailer for top selling mattresses, it can be difficult to determine the size you need. We are here to help!
When you are shopping in a furniture store, whether you want to find the best twin memory foam mattress or want to buy a queen foam mattress, you have to consider how size will affect the cost to get it to your home. How a queen mattress is delivered and how a California king mattress is shipped can affect prices. If you purchase a king-size bed mattress from a traditional store, or if you buy a traditional king bed online, your shipping costs will usually be quite high.
This is because when you buy your California king bed mattress online, the size of the mattress is prohibitive for shipping costs. Couriers, delivery services, and USPS all consider the size of the product as well as weight when shipping. A foam twin mattress for sale may not cost much, and is, in fact, light to ship, but the size and awkward structure of the package will make the cost higher.
Size Shouldn't Increase Shipping Costs
When we were creating CRaVE, we didn't want people to buy a well-priced California king mattress online and then pay a fortune in shipping costs. We wanted people to be able to purchase a foam mattress in twin through California king sizes without any worries about the costs they’d need to pay for shipping.
We slashed prices by cutting out the middlemen and reducing our overhead costs. We also designed our mattresses so that they’re easy to compress and roll up. We can ship them in a much smaller box than would be required for traditional mattresses, saving money on shipping costs. In fact, when you shop queen-sized mattresses online with us—or any size mattress—you'll notice you get free delivery from FedEx. We are happy to offer free shipping as a “thank you” for shopping with us.
Considering Size When Buying A Mattress
Sometimes, choosing the right size is obvious. Clients who are over six feet tall often find that a California king gives them the right amount of space to sleep. A California king is a full seven feet long, making it pretty much mandatory for anyone over six feet if you like any legroom at all. It is four inches narrower than a traditional king, but the extra height can be very useful.
Which Size Is Right for You?
Consider how you like to sleep and how tall you are. If you like to sleep sprawled out, we recommend looking for a larger mattress than you think you need. You won't be very comfortable otherwise. Trust us—the small additional cost will be worth it, you are sleeping on this every night after all.
You’ll also want to consider how you use your bed. If you have a partner with different sleeping styles or needs, for example, you may both need different sizes of mattress. Here’s a helpful hint: both twin and full mattresses are the same length. The twin long, queen, and king are also the same length. Also, two twin longs together equal the same size as a king-size mattress. This is important since you can dress the bed as a king, but each side can be selected by the sleeper. So if you are looking for the plush feel our hybrid innerspring offers, but your partner needs the back support our medium firm offers, you both can have the style for you in individual twin beds that side by side look identical to a king bed.
When buying a bed, carefully consider how big a bed you can fit into your bedroom. Even if your bedroom is not very big, consider the comfort of your sleep. Some people tell themselves their full-size mattress will be perfectly fine, only to find out after they make the purchase that they're terribly cramped. We recommend measuring and measuring again.
Keep in mind that two people sharing a full-size mattress each has about the same amount of room they would have in a crib mattress. A full-size mattress is 54 inches across, or about the size of two crib mattresses pushed together. We’re assuming you're larger than an infant and deserve more space. Whenever possible, try for larger rather than smaller, even if you have to move bedroom furniture around to make the bed fit. We spend more than a third of our lives in bed, and at CRaVE, we want to make sure that it is the most comfortable part of your day.
